My good friends 13th Sky have re-released their 2002 EP “Faithless”. I was more or less a part-time member of the band during this period, and I’m on most of these tracks as a guitarist, producer, and/or backing vocalist. On the whole, this is an era of my musical career I look back on quite fondly, and I’m thrilled they’ve decided to re-release this music.
More James Perry related music coming soon!
Who wants a sticker? I’ll have these available at all of my upcoming shows. (I’ve got shows coming up in Santa Cruz, Morgan Hill, Folsom, and one in the works for South San Jose; see the shows section for more details.
“Spin Zone”, the new EP from Deathline International, was released last Friday! I spent many years in the band and my contributions are all over this. I’m very proud of it and I’m quite pleased they’ve released this music. Stay tuned for more great music from DLI.
I’ve joined a new band, California Riot Act! Check us out here.
So I’m back at it, playing live shows, but with a twist! As opposed to the minimalist approach I’ve been taking ever since the “Now You’re Gone” album came out, I’m now performing to backing tracks to present a fuller / more rocking representation of my songs. It’s going great so far; I did my first show with backing last night and it turned out terrific. Can’t wait to share with you! I’m working on building out a lineup of musicians to back me up, but even just me and the laptop is pretty fun.
I’m returning to the South Bay on September 2nd, performing with Kenny Thomas And The Southern Baptists and Mr. Smooth. Should be a great time. I’m also pleased to announce that Dane Johnson, my longtime friend and collaborator dating back to my old band Control Theory, will be once again backing me up on bass guitar.
Finally, I’ve got two songs recorded and in the can and have for some time now… I’m thinking I’ll get two to three more recorded by the end of the year and put out an EP. Sound good? 🙂
I just put together a promo video for the Food Metal release. Check it out!
I’ve just completed my first lyric video for my song “Slipping Away Again”. I’m rather proud of my work if I say so myself!
At long last, Food Metal is live and available for purchase! With some help from Crash and Erie from Dream In Red, I was able to retrieve the finished tracks off my half-dead old studio computer, make some last minute adjustments, and get them mastered. Thanks to them and thank you to my friends who contributed to the original Food Metal recordings way back in 2004!
In addition, I’ve got quite a few solo gigs coming up. Come on out and see me!
I’m appearing on tonight’s episode of Listen Up! Sacramento. The taping happened last week and I can’t wait to see the results. To watch, in the Sacramento area, you can tune in at 11 PM Pacific time tonight on Access Sacramento channel 16 on Comcast/Consolidated Communications and AT&T U-Verse channel 14, or watch the simulcast online. I plan to post the best bits of my performance on YouTube soon. Many thanks to Listen Up! Sacramento for having me perform!
Another upcoming live show, this time in Modesto, California. My first time playing there. Have I even BEEN there? It’ll be part of their Third Thursday Art Walk and I’ll be part of an art show featuring artists Monica Gunderson and Kundalini Chrysalis. I love playing unconventional gigs like this.
Also, I’m considering putting out some new and previously unreleased music soon! I’ve got a couple of new songs I’m excited about, and several old songs that are fully recorded but just never saw the light of day until now.
